Sony Update Service

Sony Update Service (SUS; in past Sony Ericsson Update Service) is a tool for your computer, which allows you to update your Sony XPERIA smartphone in very easy way. In comparison with software from other manufactures, Sony Update Service is very fast and stable. Update your phone wil take about 10 minutes (depending on your internet connection) and than you can enjoy new firmware in your phone.

As you can see, it's an official software from Sony. If you use it for update or repair your smartphone, you won't loose your warranty.

What SUS (Sony Update Service) CAN do?

Well, it can do only two things - repair or install the newest Android version on your smartphone. But it works only with latest available firmware - you can't go back to previous version or stay on version you currently have in your smartphone if there's a new one.
The most important fact is, that it always deletes all your data from the phone (excluding external memory card) and your phone will be like you just bought it.

What SUS CAN NOT do?

You can't flash (=install) only a part of firmware (for example only kernel or system), it flashes always whole Android. This can be sometimes an advantage if you don't know, where's the problem. And you can be sure it will be repaired correctly.
You can't go to previous version or stay on current version if there's a new one available.

How does it work?

The first run will take a while. SUS needs to download all informations about phones and firmwares.

In the next step read the instructions. These are alpha and omega when using SUS (or any other software for flashing). Don't forget to accept license agreement. If you don't you won't be able to use SUS and update/reinstall your smartphone.

After finishing this, if you don't see your smartphone on the list, just close SUS and run it again. It will help.
Then just find your smartphone, choose it and click Next.

Follow the instructions. It can be different for your smartphone! Read it carefully, in other way you won't be able to update/reinstall it!

After connection SUS starts to download the latest firmware for your smartphone. If you have already downloaded this firmware in past, it will be immediately installed without downloading.
